Chicago Blizzard Collaborative YouTube Movie

A Chicago independent film maker is taking user videos, photos and stories of the Chicago blizzard on his YouTube channel and Facebook fanpage, then letting is followers vote up content and help script the movie. Great example you can imitate yourself…

You know, like A Day In A Life at Sundance from YouTube where people all around the world submitted videos that turned into a one of a kind movie?

Kinda like Snakes On A Plane was made by committee on the web. Except this movie wil be without the plane…. and no snakes, and maybe no Samuel L Jackson….

First watch this short video Steven Vargas shot last night as it started to snow….

Then you can follow the making of the movie on his Chicago Blizzard 2011 Fanpage….

And you can also post your video responses here on his Chicago Blizzard YouTube video page to be a part of the movie, and see the video in all it’s 1080p HD glory!

This is such a great example of how you can use the web to make a reputation for yourself and make great content from trending topics that are happening right in your back yard.

YOu can come to Ottawa next and do the same thing here…we are getting some of it but it is more par for the course here than you perhaps. It can be the North American winter blizzard series on video or something.

Let me add, EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT IN CHICAGO, you can submit a video, as long as its during the blizzard. I’d like some real-time action and video around the country of people sipping margaritas on the beach or something for contrasting purposes…

Rebecca, I’m thinking warm thoughts right now… ;) But I would go to Ottawa just to meet you in person, finally, that’s for sure. Do you know I just stumbled across a conversation we had over the phone a year and a half ago? And we talked about Chris of all people!

I put the link to my Snow Day video, maybe people will laugh at what is serious stuff where I live. However today we are having massive winds (although it has been windier). Maybe I can get some tumbleweed action shots. I will take my camera with me today.

I love what is happening with the video. I canceled my television subscription or I would video how California news reports on a Blizzard in Chicago.

Great vision, and the skills to carry it out, Steve! I am looking forward to seeing the final product, and will send you a couple of clips of the winter wonderland here in Toledo.

Thanks for supporting this effort. I hope to meet you and Steve someday soon.

Thanks for the link to your Snow Day video Rocque! Please tell me about how CA reports this type of weather… It sounds like it might be funny. :)

Thanks Jennifer for all the support. When are we going to talk about your hypnotherapy practice? I’ve studied it a bit and I am REALLY interested. So many people don’t really understand what hypnosis is. And how it can dramatically change your life for the better.

Tim, those 14 responses turned into over 75. I still have some I have to go through, and a few were taken down for copyright issues, too. I have to figure out how to contact those people and get the to resubmit the correct way…

Did I finally get your videos approved? I know I saw two of yours, at least.

Hi Fred, it’s nice to see you here. We have a great group of people here. Your type. Smart and formative.

Fred has asked me to be interviewed on his weekly radio call. I couldn’t make it last week due to time constraints, but I am planning on it next week. He operates not far from me on the north side of Chicago.

Fred, I will offer up the suggestion that you look into Chris Lang’s stuff. Maybe start by checking out his twitter page? IAMCHRISLANG He is one of the smartest people I know and his knowledge is the reason for my current and continuing success. He’s got my highest recommendation, for sure.

Whoops, that was supposed to say “smart and INformative”…
