Social Marketing Revolution

What should you be doing to be ready for the Social Marketing Revolution?

The social marketing and networking world that you know so far is gone. You just don’t know it yet.

Facebook groups? Forget em. Linked In? Linked out. MySpace? Lost in space. Ning? More like bling.

Google’s Friend Connect and Facebook Connect will turn the Internet upside down in 2009. This is Web 3.0 and it is already here now. There are very few like me that realize this.

So, Do you Google or do you Facebook? The answer is BOTH. Forget everything else and go full bore on those two. My new book, Googling Social will be out by the end of this month.

How to prepare now for Facebook Connect and Google Friend Connect – Web 3.0

First of all set up a Gmail address for your social marketing front line. It should be a business / personal name and clearly define who you are. Mine is ChrisLang at gmail and it says who I am. used2surf at gmail? Who the heck it that? Google’s social network is about real people and real friends. Hide if you want but you are missing out an SO much branding and recognition it is unbelievable.

Get, social is not about businesses, it is about people. If you can but make it real, not some stupid cutesy name.

Watch this video.

This is the perfect venue for your business. I am the EXPERT on this and I am telling you: It is for you.

If you do not have a blog on your site do it NOW. Man you gotta get a blog up on that domain. Web sites are way last decade. It will cut your time down spent building pages and it will be WAY more professional.

Facebook is cool but your SITE, your blog, is your social marketing hub. Facebook is just a place to find leads and build reputation. You have to get them out of there and on your blog.

Plus Facebook Connect is going to link up blogs with Facebook. No more groups, they are over. Friend Connect and Facebook Connect on blogs will end groups on social sites. Done.

But build up your Facebook list there and get that 5000 limit friends list up. Start un-friending unresponsive random friends and get your list freshened up right away.

The whole Internet is about to go social and it will turn it all upside down. Those like me with 10,000 friends on the right networks will rock the world, those who don’t will just be left behind.

Look at this site: Competition Swimming I built it and I don’t even have the graphics up yet. Clean professional and you can see there are real people behind it. Read the posts, they are not commercial. They are stories about swimming written by swimmers. They just happen to also sell competition swimwear.

But there are no flashing ads, buy this now plastered everywhere and Rick Pannell will never ask you to buy ANYTHING on his blog. Because I taught these wonderful people how to do it right.

You may want to consider a one hour social marketing consultation with me, Chris Lang over the phone and I can bring you up to speed.

Going to wait and see? Get my FREE social marketing report.

Don’t wait to long though… You might just wait and see your competition kick your butt because they went social, not commercial.

Hey Chris! Wow, I just read about the GoogleSocial launch & listened to the video! Sounds very exciting! Regarding my personal Website, I actually AM looking into upgrades! Once the code is done, I’m gonna sign up for Aweber (using your referral code) – that’ll free up some of my time. Also, I’m upgrading my Website – to make it more streamlined (no one ever helped me out with it so i did what i could). My site is VERY effective, but it’s also VERY simple. Finally, i’m going to launch my Youtube channel :) So yes, i COMPLETELY agree with you that i need to upgrade on it. Regarding Blogs, I think I’m gonna do a Video Blog, but…. I think I’d like to add a written blog too. Would u recommend that and would it be easy to do? Final question, do u think Friend Connect will take out Facebook? Or will they work together cause Facebook is already too well-established? And yes, maybe we should do an hour consultation! I have a bunch of things on my “to do” list but i think we should do it. Right now, I’m pretty dependant upon Facebook and upon my 200K emails database.

    Best regards,

AWESOME… Chris you’re a genius.. You free report is better than a $497 course.. I love it.. I can’t wait to talk to you..

Do you think personal social networks are Web 3.0? I think Web 3.0 will be something like create a software without knowing anything about coding and computing languages or design anything without knowing anything about design.. I also think SOS ( Software on Demand) would be the starting of Web 3.0…

@David, You want to get that WordPress blog up now, don’t wait. I can have it up for you in three hours time when you say go.

    NO reason to wait.

That will give you everything you need in place to consume the Google Friend Connect widget and what ever Facebook offers us.

Facebook Connect and Google Friend Connect run on blogs.

So you asked me: Google or Facebook? Both!

Also there will be many WordPress plugins to consume the Google Open Social API.

Thanks for the heads up! I appreciate what you are saying and because of you I have just changed my email address which I had been putting off. I have a blog on blogger that I recently started and I have been hearing about word press…pehaps I should start a new one there. Any recommendations? Thanks!

    With gratitude,

    @Dyann Lyon,

I would recommend since you are already using Blogger take a look at since Google Friend Connect is now integrating highly with Blogger.

You will want to take a look at to get up to speed on this. Also get my FREE Google Friend Connect tutorial there as well. This is my other site and I am dedicating all GFC content there since Facebook Connect is rolling out soon.

This site ( will be mostly covering the Digg / Facebook Connect integration so stay tuned here for that content.

I will always recommend a stand alone installation of WordPress, but since you have an established Blogger blog and Blogger is much more impressive with the GFC social features I would stick with that for now until you get how to use GFC under your belt.
